I don't understand how this large short position coud have occured since the volume on TSX has been around or slightly above100k/day for whole january???

It seemed very odd to me as well.  We are using two reliable sources here. My info came from Stockwatch and Clouder Canadian Insider. Maybe a big bet on one of the Alternate Markets? Maybe they have so much $$ they can just hold thier position and not rush to sell and let the market settle down. We should know in a few minutes.
