FFN unit NAV drops to $16.77 after distributions to Nov 29

Well with one day left in the month FFN is looking like it will drop well below the level seen at the end of October. @ $17.14
With the buying today in FFN the premium jumped up to  12.5%.... yield now @ 17.8 %
May see some more downside in the next few days, but hoping for a bounce in the financials.

I went to all cash last Friday. Tried to dip my toe back in this morning with 6K shares at 7.51 but then chickened out and sold for a $300 capital loss at 7.46. Looks like things are headed lower. Finally got my accounts at National Bank Direct Brokerage activated yesterday - No Commissions on any trade any size and slighltly lower margin interest rates. I was going to wait until the end of the ...more

Does  National Bank Direct Brokerage charge a slice of your total?

Ed, not sure what your question is. I opened 3 accounts in total - TFSA, Margin, Short Margin. I have no transaction fees of any kind - no commissons on trades like the $9.95 I paid at BMO Investorline. If I use margin, they charge interest, but it's a lower rate (just ever so slightly) than what I paid at Investorline. There would be a $100 Annual Administration Fee BUT it is waived if you ...more

John, how long did it take for your transfer of Accounts.  I submitted my first Forms Nov 8th, and here it is the 30th, and Scotia Itrade still has not transferred any of my four Accounts.  Transferring from Scotia Itrade to Questrade, and am curious if 3 weeks or more is the norm.

I thought they might charge $50/month or something. Let me know if they ever do charge anything.

No monthly maintenance fees as far as I am aware and I grilled their account rep with all kinds of questions before applying. If I have any surprises I'll let you know.

I am not transferring accounts or stock. I will sell all my shares and transfer cash. I haven't done it yet because I just managed to activate the new accounts yesterday - but it shouldn't tak more than a couple of days. Transfers on TFSA accounts, I'm not surprised to hear your waiting3+ weeks. I don't know about other types but yah if you are going to transfer shares "in ...more

I worked with different companies, but one thing i will recommend is (especially with the tax related accounts like TFSA) make DAMNED sure you have all your details exactly correct and matching between the accounts.  I've had transfers held up for months because of minor typos, a different  (maiden) name on one document, etc  if you need to change something, get the transfer ...more
