CN Rail

I was just reading on BNN about a new IPO called Source Rock Royalties and I was surprised to see that they mentioned that CN Rail owns 19.9% of Freehold shares!
I did not know this but am very pleased that we have such a strong company as a major shareholder.

I was reading about that and was amusing because I own CN, Freehold, Cresant Point and Pembina, it was kind of a tangled web all involved in this situation. Makes me look at maybe purchasing this new public Royalty just into increase my ability to pull of income from this web. I just want to see how they structure the income and return value to shareholders, which I did not notice mentioned. So ...more

Agree 100%. It's interesting the things we don't know even about some of our own investments that may be good or bad . In this case I think it's all good. Rico

I believe the about 20% ownerdhip is by CN Pension Trust Funds (pension funds for the employees of CN Rail) and not by CN Rail.

A little research goes a long ways. Suprised peole own a stock and have not even looked at the comany website. According to its website, Freehold “receives a significant portion of its revenue from the mineral rights of certain properties acquired from Canpar Holdings [a private royalty company owned by CN Pension Fund]: properties that were originally granted by the King of England to the Hudson ...more
