Following the acquisition, Rio Tinto Group (NYSE:RIO) held a 66% direct interest in Mongolia’s Oyu Tolgoi mine, one of the largest copper mines in the world. Additionally, Fortune Minerals, a Canadian firm, partnered with Rio Tinto to improve the extraction efficiency of cobalt and bismuth, both critical minerals. They signed a MOU to facilitate testing at Rio Tinto’s Kennecott copper mining and smelting site in Utah, as well as at Fortune Minerals' proposed refinery in Alberta. ...
