AVIS car rentals: "The Big Miles Event". It stands out well.

If car dealerships could do likewise in their ads, then the Aeroplan brand can be effective. Newspaper ads are one way, but the same message can be delivered on TV and the Internet.

The idea is not only to attract current Aeroplan members to shop, but to attract new members as well. For advertising to be effective, it has to be designed to address both groups.
