It also happens

....to larger companies like American Airlines. One of Futura's 3rd party frequent flyer partners in the US. the airline is still under Chaper 11 protection. Trying to cut costs, trim debt and increase revenues. Rumours of a merger, etc.  Like Futura:

 

“American has financed these persistent losses by borrowing money —accumulating a total of $16.8 billion in debt as of 2011,” AMR said in court filings.

The difference is people actually give a shirt about what happens to American Airlines. How many people care about FUT? Maybe the 20 who follow on here, the creditors, the insiders and the one poor Account Manager at Aeroplan who is going to get canned for signing the deal with FUT and that's about it.

Yes. Futura is off the radar for many investors. Good reason I suppose. So now we await the final verdict next week.   Nothing to do with FUT, but a lot of juniors are in the pits nowadays. Even if FUT manages to emerge from creditor protection, I'm not sure what will be left.  Most employees are gone and that must be done to trim costs if the company is to survive. Aeroplan still needs resellers for the smaller merchant category. Maybe they can work something out with Futura, the infrastructure is there. If another company wants to be a reseller it will be a steep learning curve and with large start-up costs. Need to integrate a platform with all of the 4 frequent flyer programs in the US. POS connectivity solutions must be developed to handle the ...more

Yes. I'm tried of waiting.  I can come up with all sorts of possible scenarios, including R.I.P.   There's a disconnect with what management says and what the situation really is. But it seems this was the way for 5 years, that's one reason the mess exists. It's easy to say now in hindsight they did not guage the loyalty business well enough to make a profit ...more
