RE: RE: It's been done before What I'm saying is that Aeroplan had success with these car dealership promotions since 2007. The dealers were primed, so to speak. I thought then when Futura came along in 2011 starting with TADA, that it would be easier to sign-up auto dealers. Seemed to go well in 2011, but this year it's sputtering out.
I was surprised with the maximum of 15,000 reward points which can be offered, when dealers came to know 40-75K rewards since 2007. Most dealers I see on Futura's website stay with the 5000 point level ($250 value). No motivation to buy a car. Dealers have to make money also so offer low rewards.
Change this rut into offering higher rewards plus lessening the financial impact of such on dealerships bottom line.60K ($3000 value). Somehow the dealerships themselves will have to earn Aeroplan miles to make it worthwhile to offer the larger reward. Futura will have to address this and I think they have begun to.
By encouraging card holders to redeem their Aeroplan miles at car dealerships and the various B2B initiatives being planned, the idea has a chance of working. More reards more revenue for Futura. I think the current plan has stagnated. That's one reason why Futura's Aeroplan revenue has dropped in 2nd Q.
