RE: RE: RE: ALL THIS GOOD NEWS AND My mistake. The $500 is the amount paid by the dealer at 5 cents a mile. I think the value of 10,000 Aeroplan miles to the consumer is approx 1-1.5 cents depending on what those miles are redeemed for. A value of $100-$150. So then, would a car buyer be better off with a $500 cash back rather than $100 worth of Aeroplan miles.
Maybe this issue is hampering sign-ons. However, Aeroplan would work well in car service, leasing, financing and auto parts sales.
Does offering 5000 miles an incentive to the consumer to buy a new car, or just a thank-you gift as some dealers have advertised. Or is there a threshold that has to be crossed, say 50,000 miles per new car to make the car buyer more receptive and influence their decision to buy.
