RE: Track Record

RE: Track Record

Not trying to put down Futura's management in these posts by comparing them with ADX. I'm saying that if continuing the business is one option under consideration then take a long look at the auto industry category and whether it is an area to continue. Maybe it was a matter of slow start, as takes time to build up business volume. Maybe there still is a place for Aeroplan with car dealerships. It's only in the way the program is integrated with the car dealers' other programs which needs some tweeking.

The industry categories ADX seems to have success with with Aeroplan here...maybe go into these categories in the US, instead of the auto category, If ADX can build up nearly $5 million in gross revenue from being an Aeroplan reseller in about 2.5 years, then why not Futura.

The only other numbers I have for comparison between the two companies are the annual miminum commitments to purchase Aeroplan miles. For 2012, Futura had a $666,666 minimum. I don't  know the formula used by Aeroplan as a ratio to expected sales. Maybe they expect 3X the miminum or $2.0 million, which is close. (Actual for 2011 was approx $1.7)

In 2011, the minimum for FUT was $545,000.

For comparison, Advantex was $700,000 (2011), $1,000,000 (2012), $1,500,000 (2013). A healthy growth rate. Meaning that revenues are increasing also. $1.5 million X 3=$4.5 (Actual in 2012 was about $4.8 million).

This implies that there's an opportunity for Futura to do better, maybe in the US with different industry categories. I hope they are doing their due diligence on a corporate strategy (if it's not too late) and there's enough time to change coarse or improve on the current one.

Only 2 weeks for their decision on Friday, January 18th. I don't want to be reading then, that Canada's 3rd largest loyalty program was forced into bankrupty. It sure would be embarrassing, as one poster had earlier mentioned. But the Futura Rewards program is probably finished anyway.

An idea is to go into a different line of business, while still being a reseller. A separate department, mainly for the stable cash flow to fund operations. Don't require a full staff as a reseller, yet can go into something different with more bluesky potential.
