Factory Incentives

The 60,000 mile promotion by Aeroplan/Infiniti could have been, in part, a "factory incentive" program to move out the 2012 models (maybe due to overstock). Only new cars were involved so it's possible the factory helped out the dealerships (ie: shared in the Aeroplan promotion).

Factory incentives could go on throughout more than one promotional period during a year. Lets say 30K miles the factory gives, and 30K miles the dealership or maybe 100% factory. Something Futura/Aeroplan could look at. Because until the B2B idea Futura is contemplating takes hold, it could take years. But factory incentives can be implemented now.

Year end model clearance for example is a good fit for an Aeroplan promotion. Slow moving car inventories would also work well.

Also different priced car get a graduated scale of Aeroplan points. (Some examples were shown on this forum). A $60,000 car would get more Aeroplan points than a $30,000 car. The lowest point give out would be for pre-owned cars.

It's a bit complicated about the true workings of factory incentives. Dealers are not obligated to pass the incentives onto car buyers, but usually do. Here's a Honda dealership in Alberta Futura siged-on. Aeroplan logo on the website. They even mention factory incentives on certain models. It would just be short step to getting the Aeroplan program involved. I don't know how it would ...more
