GDV was at $12.50 at the time of the offering and the new big buyers got it for $12.25. Dilution always brings the price down which offers smaller retail investors a chance to buy at an even bigger discount. As long as another black swan event does not happen, the markets will keep climbing imo and you will get a nice capital gains in time. Until then, sit back and enjoy the dividend. The margin of safety is there for you because the Unit Nav is high at about $21.22 (from the website). Remember, you will keep getting the dividend as long as the Unit Nav stays above $15. Check out the GDV website and look for Unit Nav which is generally, the NAV of Class A + the Nav of the Prefered Shares combined. My guess is that by Christmas you will be in the green again as you collect the nice dividend. Good luck to you.
Black swan events: USA defaults on loans (not likely), Evergrande bankruptcy spreading to USA and Europe, War in East with China vs. Taiwan, an asteroid hits the Earth....
