No they are not a good candidate for a takeover. Their assets are spread over 2 provinces and with 5.8k production don't see many suitors that would bother even touting the tax pools you always bring up. There is value here since they have no debt and are valued at about 315 million at current price so that is on the cheap side for 5.8k production. Fresh China lockdowns today will not help ...more

Gear is what it has always been - a steady small performer with competent managemeNt that lags the market. Gear isn't the issue, the issue is demand. Since supply is in elastic, it is only demand that can balance the market. which narrative will win? Demand destruction via recession or demand growth/ maintenance via winter weather and regional shortages? Extra supply from Iran/Russia or ...more

Well said, Roscoe. Its movements to the up and down side will be muted because of the dividend. It will ebb and flow with the tide but is not likely to be be the crest or trough of any large market wave. In the downdraft today, GXE has just comfortably bobbing along as it continues to pay a sweet dividend. As I write this it is down only 1.8% compared to others that are down 4-5%. It is not really ...more

The news came out June 5th and they did state if it happens. So not really delayed if you account for a review by government lol. I'm okay with the pumpers although they do sugar coat the facts. At current O&G prices they are definitly not paying out only 33% of FCF maybe at peak prices they were. The stock wouldn't be trading at 1.22 if it's all roses. They will have a hard time ...more

No, Joe, they are not trying to dump some crappy assets, they are trying to dump the ARO (abandonment and reclamation obligations) for 450 tired wells onto a company that specializes in wringing a profit out of ARO. The regulator won't allow the transfer because the intended recipient company is not well-heeled enough. Therefore, if this specialised company thinks it can make a profit ...more

They will release anything material. I have talked with Ingram on many occaisions and he made it clear that he errors on being transparent and will release anything that's material in operations or financial if anything changes. It's not about volunteering information or being forced to by any entity. This deal is not a game changer by any means but if anything happens we will promptly be ...more

Of course. 'Material' being the operative word as I suggested. No business volunteers info or data that may give counterparties an advantage but management may speak on a given subject on a one to one basis with investors. It's a matter of asking the right questions. I have no issue with management's disclosures or lack thereof.

I think this is the sort of value-added arrangement that can leverage profit from workovers at little or no cost to GXE and is the sort of arrangement I was suggesting for the 450 well field. At $100 oil, unproductive wells may possibly be stimulated at reasonable cost to squeeze more production. The GXE team is quite competent at these endeavours and the strong balance sheet may allow them some ...more
