HSE is as good as SU
HSE is as good as SUI own HSE for the dividend (hoping it will some day go back to $2.00 per share). Like many of you, I am discouraged by HSE lagging the market recovery since March.
As I debated whether to throw in the towel on HSE, I ran the following graph on the globe and mail site:
https://investdb.theglobeandmail.com/invest/investSQL/gx.show_chart?pl_comp_id=165572&pl_errmsg=&iaction=Chart&pl_primary_listing=HSE-T+SU-T&iaction=Chart&pl_additional_listing=0&pl_period=36W&pl_chart_type=+&pl_sh_movement=0&pl_long_movement=0
This shows over 3 years that HSE and Suncor are virtually at the same selling price change. HSE is a little lower, but they have paid a much higher dividend than SU. So I say we are even.
I no longer want to sell HSE. It is a good, solid conservative stock. If we get another melt-down in the markets, I won't be hurt as badly when the US owners of SU run for cover and SU tanks.
Cool!
