Lumber price momentum accelerated last week

Lumber price momentum accelerated last week As per TD Securities, "Western SPF 2x4 prices surged week-over-week -- up US$39/Mfbm to US$432/Mfbm, the highest point since late-February. Prices gains in the U.S. South were relatively modest, led by wider dimensions. Anecdotal commentary referenced strong order files for Canadian sawmills, extending into late-July and noted positive macro indicators, including a rapid rebound for U.S. new home sales. The Random Lengths Framing Lumber composite price of US$483/Mfbm has improved 39% over the past 11 weeks and is 13% above the pre-pandemic peak."
