Take out mortgage interest increases and CPI is 2.5!.  

So how stupid are increases when 1/3 of the increases are mortgage interest rates and that increases total CPI. We are killing the golden goose. A normal economy has mortgage rates at a much lower percentage but lucky us means other categories have to really drop to compensate for mortgage interest increases!  This is like playing wack a mole with a sledge hammer!

Give people free money (lowest interest rates since they were alive) and guess what most will do... spend, spend, spend regardless of the price.
