So IPL did the right thing, as many other companies are doing. 

Yes, it sucks to have our income reduced. But would you rather have the company get into financial difficulty?

IPL will survive, and just like in 2008/09, this is a heck of a buying opportunity.


i agree that cutting the dividend was the right move, in fact it was the only move.

i watched fareed zacharia on the weekend and it was downright scary.   the market was already on life support surviving on low interest rates and massive liquidity injections just to keep the ship afloat.  now we add in a massive hit to the economy and we could be facing the mother of all recessions, perhaps a depression. there is no guarantee the doom and gloom scenario will play out but i feel a lot better about ipl knowing it's not destroying the balance sheet to prop up an unsustainable dividend.

jamie dimon doesn't mention cutting the jp morgan dividend on a whim.
