Independent Mineral Resource estimate for Western Foreland’s Makoko and Kiala high-grade copper discoveries targeted in mid-2023, to be followed by Preliminary Economic Assessment

Comment by Donald0460 on Jul 26, 2023 5:15am
1. ....not to get ahead of ourselves: the CIM definition stipulates that such Independent Mineral Resource Estimate (amongst others) needs to show that "there are reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction" (not a very high standard). The best practice guidelines (2019) set the standards for physical data and geological knowledge (and we/IIvanhoe are using some very innovative ...more

Donald... You must not follow this company very closely. You just made yourself look very foolish.

We are dealing with exploration, in all its different stages up to fully fledged production. It is a long way for WF; and that is why I question the immediate relevance for the share price. What has been relevant for the share price though all along are the strategic and politic factors: we got partners from China (not everybody's darling these days) and are operating in DRC and SA (not ...more

Let's not ignore that we have multiple in demand discoveries that can be monetized at any time as earn-ins, partnerships or buyouts.  Any news from WF will add to this, especially since it has beef drilled for years now. I agree, there is a lot of potential in what is currently under way in different stages (Platreef, KK, WF etc.). But we should not get ahead of ourselves here (these words could come straight from RF himself.......). As mentioned before the decisive factors for IVN's future (and the share price as well) will be (1) strategic derisking (partners, geography), (2) maybe some economic de-risking & ...more

I agree WF won't be an immediate game changer. But  would it be if RF decided to auction it off?

I am a long term holder of IVN.To me,the biggest question is a stable power supply.South Africa has major power issues.DRC nort quite as bad.One needs a lot of power to become the biggest copper mine in the world.

You are absolutely right about multiple events on the horizon... And it looks like the Makoko & Kialaa independent MRE's are the next batter up  (sometime mid-year according to IVN) The way the charts are looking, anything will Blue Sky this stock, imo Heck, even News that Friedland has recovered from a Toe Nail Fungus, would probably do it, eh.
