Hey crow, if indeed there will be a deal

with a large mining company, it would be prefferable to have someone like Freeport-McMoRan,
since they are an American company and if they were our partner in some or all of WF,
than perhaps it would be a bit easier for IVN to get a NY listing since I believe we are having some issues getting a listing due to us having Chinese partners. We all know that there is no love lost between US and China. Just speculating of course, but we are growing fast and much smaller companies than us, have a listing on a major US market.
So than, what's the holdup for IVN ???
It would deffinately bring in many more funds and institutions with very deep pockets, but right now, they either won't or can't invest in a comany not listed on a major US exchange. Peronally I would preffer that IVN does the exploration and development themselves.

I agree that we need an NYSE listing.  Although big chunks of stock are already held by large American insitutions, a US listing definitily opens up the stock to more retail.  It is an administrative hassle and expense, but IVN is large enough now to justify it. As for WF development,  they can't really go it alone and the company has been waiting for some sexy drill results ...more

A Freeport or any other big name would bring in the traders for sure. The Chinese have made this whole operation happen as they supply skilled labour that actually works hard, supplied all the materials to build these mines on time and budget. It is hard to believe that the Chinese would want to share the riches of IVN/WF as they have the money to trump any other players bid. I get the size of ...more

Hit the nail on the head. China would be able to flood WF with labour and material as required. However, in order to induce some deep rooted confidence in IVN, a non-Chinese investor is needed. Then, we would see the SP ascending to its well-deserved evaluation. If WF is swallowed by the Chinese again, the SP, I fear, would have a much lesser chance to reflect fair value. Profits, nonetheless ...more

IVN is committed to developing and employing local Congolese human resources as much as possible actually and a minimum of Chinese labour. There won't be any flooding of WF with Chinese workers. That reflects a misunderstanding of IVN's culture.

All I want is fair value for this prized asset. I agree that a outsider would help the cause in so many ways. Either way RF and the Chinese have to agree with any such deal as the rest of our votes mean nothing. This WF asset is probably the best of the best in the world and we know that others want in badly. Great position for IVN to be in. Lets wait and see what comes of it. RF is good at making ...more

@chintzy. IVN has been and will keep employing locals wherever possible, predominantly to run operations. They will not find skilled construction workers (e.g. welders, electricians, etc.) on a market where the median age is below 20. Construction and operations are very different. Here we are talking about accelerating new mines by building and bringing them online.
Comment by Contrarian58 on Dec 08, 2023 12:24pm
My guess is that IVN will stick to their strategy of redeploying construction teams to new projects as the labor forces become available. If you are a contractor, would you rather get involved in a one-off project or one that will likely have 20+ years of followon projects. Ivanhoe will be building mining infrasturcture for decades. The Western Forelands are likely to be the gift that keeps giving ...more

That is most likely and logical. If what we are hearing is reliable (no reason to believe it isn't) then WF will see amped up exploration likely to lead to multiple developments concurrently. As a shareholder, I couldn't be happier about it. I agreee this should all remain in IVN's control until more profitable value/assets are developed. Having said that, we don't know what the ...more

Would not be surprised if Ma'aden partners with IVN in the WF.   What if  IVN were to list on the new CBOE  global listing?  You would think if IVN was to list on the NYSE they would have already done so long ago. I get the sense that RF is a stubborn guy and for some reason refuses to list there.  IVN's metals  to soon sell on the ABXX exchange at a ...more
