I give Makuch all the credit in the world for taking 2 big gambles/informed choices, and having them both look to pan out: buying Detour for 1/3rd of KLGold, and committing $320M to Macassa shaft #4.  (IMO, the Novo Resources buy may have been foisted on Makuch. Remember Sprott was chair of the board back then).  Makuch has controlled what he can.

But a Swan zone repeat is not in the cards, at least not yet.

BTW, when Eric Kallio took over KLGold exploration, the focus of exploration at FVille changed.  Kallio (who used to be Makuch's geo back in the Lake Shore Gold days) said "we're looking for a needle in a haystack, drilling from 1000s of meters away" and switched to drilling in front of advancing mining drives down Phoenix, Harrier, and (now) Robbins Hill.  Higher probability approach; and BTW that's what produced the original Swan find, back there for Newcastle and Crocodile.

Not to say FVille production falls off a cliff - there's still plenty of decent ore there - but the 40 g/t head grade days and accompanying low AISCs look to be in the rearview mirror.

49.9 gm in one of the qtrs if I recall.
