Government stepped in and resolved it. Business as usual.
The Porgera story obviously caused some ripples. Barrick behaved badly. That area became a major crime area drawing in lots of bad types. I fully support PNG for removing such a terrible legacy. These guys had been using and trashing the place. Just unacceptable.
This reminds me of Ecuador where Occidental poisoned the Amazon areas and just walked away. If outsiders don't behave as they would in their own homeland then they have no rights there.
