It is best s a long term investment  - a strategy which often pays -- off big time -- but you have to wait it out. The trick of course is to pick one that l;ooks like it will become an operating mine with lots of pluses e.g. KNT. Why do you think so many ifinancial institutions an mutual funds hold KNT?

As for your wife reporting the gains from day trading or 99.9% of other daytraders reporting gains as income - Ha!!! - give me a break !  

I suppose they try to deduct the losses from income too? - right!  If they did they would be waving a flag in the face of CRA and sooner vs. later will be audited
