"The new high grade gold mineralization discovery, now named the Larkin Gold Zone ("Larkin"), sits approximately 5 to 10 metres below the 30C nickel basalt / ultramafic contact which is further confirmation of the relationship between gold and nickel occurrences at Beta Hunt."
This does appear to be both a new gold and nickel zone
"Larkin Gold Zone" – New broad, high-grade gold discovery south of Alpha Island Fault1.2.:
BE30-003: 8.2 g/t over 3.9 m
BE30-004: 3.3 g/t over 15.8 m
BE30-007: 3.9 g/t over 11.0 m
BE30-010: 15.3 g/t over 3.5 m
BE30-011: 7.4 g/t over 8.9 m
Wall Sample (BD40ACCLHW_002): 5.0 g/t over 14.4 m, including 22.7 g/t over 2.6 m
"30C Nickel Trough" - First new nickel discovery at Beta Hunt in 13 years1.2:
BE30-007: 3.8% Ni over 2.3 m
BE30-009: 7.7% Ni over 1.3 m
BE30-010: 8.6% Ni over 1.0 m
So as guessed on prior PR they indeed are finding new non-FDV style gold deposits very close to Ultramafic cap on Lunnon Basalt. That is where high grade gold came from in the past, so no pyritic sediment layer involved, but that could exist below.
Both the gold and the nickel are high grade. The gold seems to be higher grade in narrower vein sections. Huet is a specialist in such mining. BE30-009: 7.7% Ni over 1.3 m and BE30-010: 8.6% Ni over 1.0 m call that 8.2% over 1.15 meters for those 2 holes, teh gold equiv? $1069.86 /tonne of nickel = 17 grams of gold Tonne
www.kitco.com/... So richer than the gold veins which is wonderful, but still will take BE30-010: 15.3 g/t over 3.5 m as best hole as almost as rich and 3 times thicker and $963 a tonne. The gold wall sample is superb too.
BTW this geologic setting produced big nuggets in the past, just not as big as FDV did. It does also appear that Karora as guessed had a boatload of news bottled up waiting for Maverix final signing and now its being metered out.
Cheers
