The video described some things that I have found confusing in the past such as the differentiation between the dollar, the eurodollar, and the euro. Before watching the video, I thought that people who spoke of the eurodollar were just being mistaken in their language when they should have said "euro". I stand corrected.
The video highlights what a confusing world this is. The upheavals will be difficult for a number of countries. The future of stable currencies is questioned. The strength of the US dollar, or "euro-dollar" which is slightly different, was reinforced as I now see that trade runs more smoothly when the parties are dealing with a stable currency that can be re-used in the future.
The frightening prospect of over 100 countries investigating converting to some sort of "electronic" or digital currency is terrifying to contemplate, considering the issues of government control over how you save and spend. A few years ago, this would have been the talk of wacko fools who listened for the silent helicopters; now, it is being revealed as a possibility. A few years ago I would have thought that the public in Canada would never allow this to happen; now I can see a scenario where the CBC and the Globe and Mail would embrace it and the general population would be fooled into thinking that it is a great idea.
The long term prospects for gold seem good. However, I see that gold is currently running up and down the flag-pole, about to be shared or scared with the unpredictable "celebrations" of Canada Day, then July 4th. As usual, I have absolutely no idea where gold will go between now and mid-July.
After mid-July ???
The other big event of the weekend is the march toward Moscow by a Putin manufactured mercenary army. What will Putin now do to reassert his authority - that is a frightening thought. If I were a leader of one of the 15 African nations where Wagner has been active, I would not be sleeping well. Is this a point of volatility that will keep gold on the front burner?
