The ill fated policies of the U.S., their 'war on drugs', cannabis specifically are now coming home to roost ((the pun, naturally (pun intended) is intended)) and why is that so? Archaelogical artificats over 3000 years old uncovered in China revealed cannabis was used for medical reasons and not only in ceremonies. Other much older cultures than the U.S. also showed the use of cannabis for medical purposes and those much older cultures still use the plant for it's medical qualities, the history showed the Truth π but the U.S. implimented this now very ill fated policy into effect for political/racial reasons and those policies are coming home to roost now in real time. Scientific studies in more opened countries showed the anti viral properties of cannabis as well as modulating the human endocannabinoid system if infected but that was ignored by the U.S.
Today in real time as well, scientists were litterally shocked when they found out that avian bird flu transferred to cows, a first and never documented before. Even the unpasteurized milk tested positive, so hopefully the CDC, USDA, and FDA now implement policies for mandatory testing for avian bird flu AFTER the pasteurization process before shipping it out to the grocery stores. Well if you read the earlier article you should have recognized even MORE disturbinig because scientists are VERY concerned that if it can jump to a cow then it could then very well jump to pigs and the worry is that pigs are different than cows. Pigs in their throat have receptors for avian bird from a human or avian bird flu from a bird and because of this uniqueness makes pigs the perfect incubator for genetic mutations to avian bird flu which could have the lethality of avian bird flu along with a mutation for adaptation to humans, making humans more prone to catching it from the slightest exposure, even from a dust particle floating in the air, unseen by the human eye but large enough for a virus particle to catch a free ride to your face as you inhale.
Now a little something they did not tell you in the article and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to firgure it out. If it already jumped to cows then you know for sure it has jumped to pig because of their unique throat receptor. Also something else not told in the article. The U.S. has a very large feral hog problem. A feral hog is merely a pig no longer domesticated and even a young domesticated pig will revert back to a feral hog if released into the wild. Feral hogs rome in uncontrolled environments, the wild, compared to more biocontrolled pig farms, and because feral hogs are in the wild they have at least an order magnitude greater chance of contracting bird flu from migratory birds in the wild.
Now had the U.S. not implemented their ill fated policy on cannabis, by today the science of cannabis compounds would be a MATURE technology with new types of drugs including anti-virals available to combat these viruses be it in a human or veterinary application.
And...there's a lot of hunters that do hunt wild feral hogs and from that hog you get the exact cuts of meat as you would from a domesticated pig. Grain feed them to fatten them up, bait the area, mmmmm...grain fed feral hog and oh, if it has avian bird flu, only a small amount of undercooked meat or handling the raw meat carelessly, you get infected
Not only did the U.S. ill fated problem give them now a massive problem, it also created a massive problem for the entire global community because the technology of cannabis based anti-virals is not a mature industry, the science is still evolving and production capacity is very limited as well.
