Timing

A disclaimer first: I have no experience in "strategic review" processes and I have no idea how long they normaly take.
That being said, I note that LB's  "strategic review" is now over three weeks old. I would think this is long enough to establish whether a serious buyer is out there or whether the bank's management should be given the mandate to go on with the turnaround plan. I other words, I would have expected an announcement by now.
Am I being impatient orf irrealistic? Is someone out there better informed that I am?

you are right to be concerned carlocarli.....nobody is pushing and shoving to step up and bid...I think investors will be surprised when nobody steps up to make a bid....lets face it LB is a dog of a bank.... a technical guy yesterday on BNN MarketCall said he would avoid it technically as it has a chance of little gain on the current price....maybe $42 and the downside is like $32 ish......not ...more

Thank you for answering my post. What I am really looking for id some factual information about the duration of the process. Do you know how long this process normally takes?

LB has given a closing to accept bids as the end of August.....so any potential bidders are in no hurry as they take their time to evaluate the assets and if it fits into their strategy....but the longer it goes on the lower the price will go...drift based on technicals.....the risks here are no bids or a low bid....now they should get at least 1 bid but its gonna be low because there is no ...more

Thank you again 88. Do you happen to have a link to the LB deadline of the end of August? I am unable to find any mention of it in LB's press releases. Best of luck to you and everyone.

Once again, 88 is now short this stock so he is giving you a very pessismistic view of the pending LB sale.   Stephen Takascy who actually knows something about Quebec finance and the players involved, just made LB his TOP PICK on Bnn.    He believes LB is worth around $60/share (book value) and will get offers in the $55/share range.     All the Canadian banks ...more

I heard the deadline mentioned multiple times on BNN from Andrew Bell.  He commented on the end of August dealine for bids to be considered So if they have mutltple bids they must decide by end of August or if no bids then at the end of August the BOD would just announce that after strategic review process they recieved no bids or unacceptable bid and decline and then busniess goes on as per ...more

Deadlines are meaningless.  Money talks whenever it wants to.   Anyone can bid and it doesn't have to be a Canadian entity.

"LB has given a closing to accept bids as the end of August" Wondering where LB said that, I didn't see it

Nm, saw the post, Andrew Bell on CNN.  I'll try to go check it out.

The Globe has reported "Analysts expect Laurentian to make a final decision on an acquirer before the bank reports its financial results on Aug. 30." Andrew Willis of the Globe, in an opinion column July 17, wrote that LB wanted initial bids in by the end of the month (meaning end of July). "Who will show up at the end of the month, when Laurentian is asking for initial bids ...more

Oh ... and as I mentioned once before ... the Globe has reported that LB is believed to have received a bid. Which is why the strategic review was launched. I have not seen anything that characterizes that initial bid as good, bad or indifferent. And LB has not officially confirmed anything about bids or deadlines.
