LFE sees some profittaking

Well it is not me selling , i have a bid at $4.92 ... no sells below $5.50... i dont sell any of my holdings EVER, at a big discount.  Not too surprising to see some profittaking in MFC , which has had a torrid rise since Early May.. rising from $32.5  MAy 1 to $36.5 at the high a few days ago. A gain of about 4$ or about  12.3%. And LFE got a 40 cent divvy on top of that.

Isn't there a risk of getting trapped here? LFE always trades at a discount even when it's in payment territory. So if it were to trend down but people don't sell because it's at a big discount, that would increase their risk of holding at a loss and no distribution either to ease the pain. By the way, I'm not singling out just LFE, but also DF which trades at a discount.

Always a risk... its the stock market.. that is stupid comment. Even the some of best stocks can dive and maybe not miss in a general market correction, but capital losses occur. Especially buying at a premium. No mistaking the mood of the market, many of THESE SPLIT FUNDS, even ones like FTN that has a lot of safety and all financials are trading at a discount. Yes it's the market and risk always exists. I just prefer to buy when things are unloved and very much over sold and then waiting. flaming.....yep.....depends on investment objectives etc of course.  A while back I bought some quality prefs like ENB and locked in a 9% dividend and enjoying an 8% capital gain and expect the capital gain to increase as interest rates go down...a great risk adjusted return in my books i also sold my LFE earlier today in the mid 4.90s that i bought last week at 4.81....just didn't like

You are correct, I believe we are all barking up the same tree. Mouserman is a great analytical trader, certainly better than me, and NavGod is good at shorting... something that is not in my arsenal at all. I look for undervalued plays and wait them out. Yeah I bought SIA during Covid and sold a while back for a handsome gain....never was a fan if BBD though As for splits....I don't consider them as long term holds and use them for trading since there are often price inefficiencies that can be exploited  Back in the day I traded options and shorted stocks but at my age those things are a distant memory....lol....these days I spend my

No one likes BBD, that's what attracts me to it even more lol. Eventually the Globe and BNN will be pumping it, that is one milestone for me to sell a tranche. Flaming...good luck with BBD.  I see that a Quebec judge has just approved a class action suit against them....just too much going with that company  for me to get a good night's sleep if I owned them....lol.  At my age sleep is very important....lol. That said, I do agree agree with your overall philosophy regarding stock selection.

Class action lawsuits are not out of the norm for publicly listed billion dollar market cap corps. Apple has one now. But, to your point "too much going with that company" implies it's all bad news. Lol, quite the contrary. That lawsuit was during a dark period for the company with a different CEO and board, where I might actually agree to the class action suit. But, this is not the
