I will give credit to Bebis and LIQ for finally doing the right thing and cutting the dividend.....Still not sure how well they can compete vs. the competition in Alberta / elsewhere, how profitable their new locations will be vs. the cost paid to acquire them / build them, etc.....One wild card for current shareholders: perhaps they will be bought out at a significant premium to the current share price....?........It can be hard for their competitors to grow earnings given the various liquor licence regulations in the various provinces and states, so buying out an existing player could be attractive....As an added bonus, LIQ shares are priced in Canadian dollars, so any U.S.-based company would be able to get it for less than would be the case if the Canadian dollar was stronger (e.g. see Lowe's recently buying out Rona for more than they offered a couple of years ago).......Will be interesting to see how the LIQ story unfolds over the next year or two.....
