Dividend?

Spent 15-20 minutes talking with VP of IR Mark Utting at PDAC. He floated the possibilty of Lakeshore giving a dividend to investors within a year, but not a set amount. It likely will be a percentage of profit so it could vary. Also said FG is on the table and they want to monitize it sooner rather than later either by selling a portion off or doing a JV.

I'll try and post more details as I have time.

I'd like to know what assumptions need to hold for the company to have the cash to pay a dividend?  I would not hold my breath - maybe if gold hits 3k they would be able to pay a dividend in a year.

Now I've had a chance to unwind and check my notes, allow me to try and expand on my previous post. First of all on a possible dividend: Company realizes that shareholders are anxious to see a move in this direction, but it won't happen before it is in a positive cash flow position. The priority is getting Timmins West to full production later this year, pay down debt, and add cash to ...more

The possibility of a dividend in the foreseeable future is so remote.  It would be an inappropriate use of scarce resources when LSG has so many opportunities for exploration, expansion, new facilities, new properties,etc..  The market would wonder about the capacity of management if they were paying money back to the shareholders when there are so many ways of creating value for the ...more

What you say has much merit Yoda2 and I rated the comment a 5. The flip side of the coin that should be considered is the possible dividend payment. How and Why?? Working with current grade and gold price the work at the company is getting done. Throwing more money around to speed it up did not work. We are waiting for 100,000  oz many years late from the original projections.  I want ...more

I completly agree , gentlemen dont get carried away ... dont forget , survival is the name of the game . God knows when LSG will be able to go to the markets - If they want institutional respect and credibility they are going to have to clean up their balance sheet and tighten their belt - Its a whole new game out there for the miners especially the junior miners - cowboys have their days ...more
