Lake Shore Gold to Repay $20 Million Standby Line of Credit

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec 17, 2014) - Lake Shore Gold Corp. (TSX:LSG)(NYSE MKT:LSG) ("Lake Shore Gold" or the "Company") today announced that it will repay the $20.0 million outstanding balance on its standby line of credit (the "Standby Line") on December 31, 2014. Under the terms of an agreement with Sprott Resource Lending Partnership ("Sprott"), the Company will repay the $20.0 million of principal and pay approximately $1.4 million in fees. By repaying the remaining balance in December 2014, the Company will save over $2.4 million of interest over the remaining term of the debt (to November 2016), including $1.8 million during 2015.

Once the Standby Line is repaid, the Company will have approximately $7.0 million of debt remaining with Sprott, all related to a gold-linked note. The gold-linked note is being repaid monthly, with the final payment to be made in May 2015.

Tony Makuch, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lake Shore Gold, commented: "We have made excellent progress reducing our debt levels while also generating net free cash flow. Earlier this year, we said we would repay $20.0 to $25.0 million of debt in 2014 while also building our cash position. With the $20.0 million repayment we will make later this month, we will have repaid a total of $45.0 million of debt this year and increased our cash and bullion from $34.0 million at the beginning of 2014 to approximately $60.0 million ending the year. Our increased financial strength is largely the result of a solid operating performance during the year, with the Company on track for record production of at least 180,000 ounces of gold and both cash operating costs and all-in sustaining costs beating our full-year 2014 targets."

they still have 60 million$ in cash after repayment  .. means this quarter should deliver outstanding results from operations... the only meaningful debt now are the C.-Bonds ... with 60 million$ cash obn hand and further growing cash balance LSG should buy back the bonds ...   this would be good for shareholders...

I believe the rate on the standby line was 9.75%.  Paying this off saves $1,950,000 in interest annually.   Based on current production this is around $10/oz less in cost.  Reduced financial risk AND reduced cost per oz.... great move, let's keep it up!  gltals...

Good news but in his statement Tony should have said that ''the Company is on track for a record production of at least 180 000 ounces....by ''a record production well over 180 000 ounces''...because we know that it will be the case!! But overall good to know that the Company is also working hard on the debt repayment.

The first of what may just be several months of positive news releases. Lets hope the price of gold cooperates, and that the fed does not do what it usually does when it makes an announcement like it will later today, and that is hammer us down further.

You know Gold is going to take a dive this afternoon even if it might be short lived. Those with cash might wait for that moment.

If everybody expects Gold to tank it should have started already.

Chapulin, would it not happen AFTER the news? "A policy statement from the Federal Reserve is due at 2 p.m. Eastern, with a press conference to follow in the central bank’s last meeting of the year. With higher interest rates anticipated in 2015, Fed watchers want to see if the central bank will change its pledge to hold rates steady for a “considerable time.” Hmmm?
