Mobilization for closing Amulsar-gold project is growing
Mobilization for closing Amulsar-gold project is growingYesterday, on April 28, there were marches, demonstrations and public awareness campaigns in the communities to be affected by Amulsar mining - Areni, Yeghegnadzor, Vayk, Gndevaz, Jermuk. The local population is very aware of the problems and already vocal against mining. Near Gndevaz, the demonstrators entered Lydian's territory and demanded that they withdraw; they also promised to come back soon in much bigger numbers and to block any activity done for the mine. In Jermuk there was a demonstration near Lydian's office, too. Taking into consideration the political situation in the country, it is very realistic that the local populations will stand very decisively against the mine and will soon do more radical direct actions to stop Lydian. Social networks are flooded with videos and photos from yesterday's events, the page of Armenian Environmental Network can be checked for reference.
