A second pandemic...

There is an acute phase of COVID and it leaves behind long-term damage to those infected that can accumulate with the number of infections. Even assymptomatic and mild cases can cause lasting damage and patients may require monitoring. Policy makers have tried to move on and ignore this; but the bill is now having to be paid. When policy markers take into account the long term costs of this virus on human health and the health care system they may once again return to the importance of diagnostics and prevention which have been substantially abandoned.
