I'll tell you what happens next...

You get squat from the company
The market blows off and crashes
Copper is too much too fast it crashes too
MIN drops 25% to 40% in a couple of days

I'm shorting the market....cashing in all my copper chips for the time being....GL dreamers and wishers!

What about inflation old chap?. Don't you think copper is a good hedge against inflation.
Comment by Copper3 on Feb 24, 2021 3:17pm
Let be honest here. Excelsior looks like it's priced to receive permits soon not a company that is fully built in production working out some startup issues. We are priced like copper is well under 3$ not above 4$. These copper bull cycles don't last forever. They come and go. I'm just hoping we are able to see some decent gains here before the market turns upside down again... It will ...more

I respectfully disagree regarding the copper price. Since 2010 the mantra for all the big corporates has been pay down debt, pay dividends, shareholders come first. On a relative basis very few new greenfield copper projects have been sanctioned and any capex has been spent on low hanging fruit brownfield projects (which are now mostly done). Look at the case study for Codelco for the challenges ...more

According to The International Copper Association, copper scrap meets about 30% of world copper demand. This is often forgotten and is quite significant. As prices rise, more of this source will be comong onto the market, muting some price gains. Still think we will see $5 copper before $3 dollar copper. On pullbacks, I might suggest taking a look at Arizona Metals, a copper exploration company ...more

I understand. The copper market is looking all rosy and many companies seem to be enjoying and benefiting from this. I have been in excelsior for about a decade now... Longer than most people on this board. I have a large position and have traded it a bit but mostly held and added over the years. I guess I am just getting tired of waiting and waiting. The last 4 years have been ultra boring as far ...more

Copper has long legs this time so long as the financial system doesn't blow up again with rates blowing out causing the mother of all recessions....which is going to happen....baring that the green revolution is the best thing to ever happen to copper and if we dont collapse, copper will have a long prosperous life.   MIN has a problem...the market is telling you that. I cashed out ...more

Have any opinions what happens to Gold and the Gold Miners under this synario. Through the roof??
Comment by marketsense on Feb 24, 2021 9:01pm
Incude copper in that scenario.   There's an obvious imbalance between supply and demand that is going to continue for some time.   Average length of time to get a new copper mine in production......10 yrs.

I don't like gold anymore. Bitcoin has killed it. Maybe once inflation really gets going they'll all pile in again but in the short term I don't hold any gold or miners. I follow them closely and they sure are making bank now but they are stocks with tickers and if this market melts down everything drops for a while.  I'm just chillin for a while...I'll wait for a few ...more

Arent you like 70 or 80? What are you doing here posting like a teenager every 15 minutes? I sure as hell hope i spend my pension years very differently than posting all sorts of random stuff on some junior companies.  Now you are suddenly in the doomsday camp because the yieldcurve moved. Whatever.

Hi Metalhead, would you care to divulge some of your current and prospective picks. I am happy to agree to disagree with you on Excelsior but I believe I can learn from everyone so therefore I am curious to know what your stock moves are for the market going forward. Just curious.

Sure...I've sold almost everything.  I have a small positon long in WRN for a buyout of their Casino copper project and EMHLF which is moving forward the largest Lithium project in Europe. Both are special situations but I've taking profits in both and only hold a little now.  I'm also short small stakes in emerging markets and long volatility as I'm expecting a ...more

What I said...you should sell your MIN now...it will get caught up in this and crash too.

Thanks for the compliment but I think you missed the message.  The US votes on their stimulus package tomorrow.   $1.9T if it goes through is a lot of juice.
Comment by metalhead666 on Feb 25, 2021 1:28pm
Nope...firstly the Senate has to approve it which they probably will...but it only will fuel inflation more...a lot more. Rates will continue to scream higher until defaults start, junk bonds blow up etc...the market will crumble under all this debt with rates blowing out and the FED no longer in control.  It's a very very risky time right now...go to cash
