The elusive truth and media limitationsI would guess the probability is high that the block of content representing the last several months of growing frustration was removed from the MNO board at the request of the companies CEO or major shareholder.
Upon company request SH will review post content if there is a claim that it specifically targets the credibility or character of an officer or major shareholder of the company. If the content is deemed defamatory in nature (without proven source) it may be removed at SH’s discretion.
This is a general legal requirement that any media company must follow and is not limited to SH. For example if someone has a criminal record a poster could state they are a criminal because they have a criminal record. However I cannot refer to someone (or a company) as criminal without it being factually based. What was on this board about the major shareholder (and the CEO) is the later type and could be interpreted as defamatory in nature and therefore subject to removal from the board.
Please note I am not stating whether the opinions expressed by board posters over the past several months of unexplainable MNO stock movements are correct or incorrect. However I would agree that those implicated as accountable for the fluctuations, and further, the reference to the inferred legality of their conduct may impact the ability of those parties implicated to conduct their business in a manner that they would like.
Perhaps a party with interest in MNO or another publicly traded company (of which the major shareholder is involved) was doing their standard due diligence, and the opinions expressed on this board had them inquired into why they did what they did to the CNY shareholders and the general pattern that is forming across multiple companies.
Or maybe something on this board just hit a nerve.
