News:HAMLIN-DEATY CREEK COPPER TARGETS TO BE

Maple Minerals Corp (TSX-V:MPM) Shares Issued 15,270,269 Last Close 5/2/2005 $1.35 Tuesday May 03 2005 - News Release Also East West Resource Corp (TSX-V:EWR) News Release Mr. L.M. Falzone of Maple Minerals Corp. reports MAPLE MINERALS CORP. - HAMLIN-DEATY CREEK COPPER TARGETS TO BE DRILLED Maple Minerals Corp. and East West Resource Corp.'s helicopter borne time domain EM surveys completed on Deaty Creek in 2003 and on Hamlin in 2004 have located several strong EM conductors that are untested and occur near known copper showings that have been located in outcrop by the company's field crews. Approximately 50 kilometres of ground grid has been cut in April followed by detailed ground EM and IP surveys which has assisted in positioning the drill sites. The eastern portion of Hamlin and Deaty Creek covers an important felsic (rhyolite) mafic (basalt) contact that appears to extend southwesterly onto the Freewest claims where an important Cu-Zn find has been announced. The same contact may be equivalent to the Vanguard horizon 15 kilometres to the northeast where two known VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide) Cu-Zn deposits occur. The copper showings near Hamlin Lake (formerly called Discovery Lake) and a breccia zone on Deaty Creek are interpreted to be footwall stringer-alteration zones that are associated with large VMS Cu-Zn deposits. Chlorite-magnetite-pyrite-chalcopyrite mineral assemblages in these zones are typical of footwall alteration found in the Noranda basemetal camp. Six initial holes will be drilled this spring on Hamlin-Deaty Creek followed by follow-up holes on extensions of anomalies. Seven other holes are planned for central Hamlin to continue the winter drill program where seven holes tested shear hosted gold settings that show settings similar to Hemlo style mineralization and structure. Geological mapping and prospecting will continue along the 15-kilometre trend covered by Deaty-Hamlin and Powell. Management is excited about testing these targets as part of a long range plan to explore for polymetallic Cu-Zn-Ag-Au VMS massive sulphides, particularly in light of new discoveries in the same geological package. The Hamlin and Deaty properties are owned 100 per cent by Maple and East West. The project is being supervised by R. Middleton, PEng, who is the qualified person and responsible for quality control of the assaying and reporting.
