RE:RE:RE:It's Tesla - Occam's razor
I don't know if Nano One and Tesla are working together. But from speaking with them it certainly did not sound like they are.

In fact here are some of my notes from my discussion:

~in some ways they want to squash the speculation that Nano and Tesla are working together and in some ways they don't.

~There isn't anything major.

~Giga Texas cathode plant is most likely NCA, not even NMC. Not LFP.

~Not sure Tesla has even selected the process technology at Giga Texas yet.

~We have approached Tesla maybe 5 times over the years.

~Tesla is an odd company in that they don't collaborate with anyone. Ever.

~Either they buy you out or they integrate you into the supply chain.

~Need to be commercial size comparable to Panisonic/CATL to be integral part of their supply chain.

~Tesla does not want to get into cathode manufacturing.

~Tesla are building cathode plant as a demonstration facility and to share their technology. Encourage others into the industry.

~Tesla buys patents then open sources them to everyone. They have no desire to fight or protect patents. They only want the industry to grow.

~Elon has stated if he could start over he would start a cathode company.

~Encouraging that at battery day Elon referenced their M2CAM ambitions which was really encouraging since we had just completed ours a few months prior to battery day.  Shows great minds were independently thinking alike.

~Lots of potential for more talks in the future once commercialized.

After a great chat my gut feeling was nothing is happening right now between Nano One and Tesla.
What did Nano tell you directly?  I'm interested if you came out of your discussion with Nano with a different feeling than I did.

Nobody knows more than what has been told to the market. But the tone and some of the key notes above give me the gut feeling there is nothing going on.

Like I said before, Nano does not need Tesla. They have a dozen or so major partners evaluating their LFP CAM and this will lead to an off take agreement in 2024. Once we get an off take, we will get a grant, and then start building facilities. Once the business starts to grow, it will snowball.  All this can happen without Tesla.

good luck to all the longs.
