“copper is the new oil.” - Robert Friedland

“copper is the new oil.” - Robert Friedland"With regards to ESG, he said: “Companies that get it right will inherit the industry. Companies that don’t, will die.”

ESG to decide winners-losers in mining, says Friedland - MINING.COM

Who is Friedman trying to convince that a mining company can change the effect of climate change upon an impoverished, nutritionally marginal population?  Yes, mining companies will need to reduce their operation’s vulnerability to extreme weather events, but are helpless to prevent flood or drought losses to crops and food production, or substantial damage to road and rail systems.

IMO the consequences of climate change will become readily apparent to most everyone soon, very soon; and is likely to produce a major shift in production to intracontinental or domestic sources.  We are already seeing the adverse effects of CC with heat waves in the sub-tropics, i.e. India, hunger and torrential rain in Africa.

If the trend continues, I can see a Nevada Copper buyout in approx. 1 year - going into the summer of 2023.  This current aberration of three la Nina in a row heightens chance of Peruvian floods in Spring 2024.
