RE:Jan 4th 2024 Tribes Drop Challenge to Thacker Pass Lithium MOkay, let's talk about lithium instead of copper. First of all, the rush to find lithium was based much upon its continued use in EV. Hmmm ... well actually the technology of storing electrical energy is evolving and new, more efficient, and safer devices are being developed. Five years form now EV auto makers may build an automobile that won’t explode in your garage.
The fact tis that technology is advancing at a faster and faster rate, and “new” technologies become outdated sooner. When one considers the time, effort, and cost of building a mine wouldn’t you want a longer demand window than just the last couple of years? But that’s not the major threat to Thatcher Pass, that comes from the mining industry itself. We will need lithium in the future that is true, however other technologies for producing lithium such as Owens Valley and Salton Sea projects hold much more promise and threaten the profitability of the Thatcher Pass operation.
Like all “rushes” the first to lead the parade sell out early and leave bag-holders behind.
