Bill introduced to convey BLM land to Yerington -  - February 16, 2012 - Copper $3.88/lb.

(AP) - Nevada's U.S. House members have introduced legislation that would convey 10,000 acres of federally owned land to the city of Yerington in Lyon County for development.

Northern Nevada lands bills pass Senate
- December 12, 2014. - $2.55/lb.

Today, in a big moment for Northern Nevada, a historic package of lands bills — six introduced by Rep. Mark Amodei, R-District 2, and one by Rep. Steven Horsford, D-District 4, passed the Senate as part of the National Defense Authorization Act. The bills now move on to the President to be signed into law.

The key measure for western Nevada is the Lyon County Economic Development and Conservation Act, strongly backed by both congressmen. Horsford said that measure, pending in Congress nearly six years, will create more than 3,000 jobs by enabling development of a major copper mine near Yerington."

A drop of over 30% in copper prices while a previous version of Republican retribution* delayed the land bill for nearly a year and placed the sale of the project in a declining commodity market.

*  House Republicans sought political revenge against Nevada Senate leader Harry Reid for not bringing up their BS bills for a vote in the Senate by tying up our land bill in the lower house.  Nevada is a red state and still we got screwed.
