Bill Status

Bill StatusThis is what I have found. In the House of Reps, HR696 went to committee....but I have found no indication it was "reported" to the House of Reps and put on their calendar for a possible vote. S.159 (same bill) was favourably reported from various committees with a couple of minor amendments (related to military overflights I seem to recall), and was placed on the Senate calendar for a potential floor vote. So at this point, it seems the delay is in the House of Reps Committees finishing their reports, thereby allowing the H of Reps to vote on the bill. I believe at this point, this would trigger Harry Reid to put S159 to a vote on the floor of the Senate. If amendments are made, then both Houses of Congress have committees that would get together and thrash out the differences. Its quite a convoluted process. Both Houses have to agree on a bill before its sent to the President for signing. For the record I looked up HR433 that the Scotia analyst referred to, and was unsuccessfull finding a bill with the name he indicated.(the omnibus bill containing a number of land bills for Nevada). Anyway, it may take more time to get this bill passed. H.R.696 Latest Title: Lyon County Economic Development and Conservation Act Sponsor: Rep Horsford, Steven A.
