Quantifying climate change costsis material to projecting mid/long term prospects for copper. Adapting to increased surface temperatures and higher sea levels will require significant infrastructure manufacture and/or modification. A very informative article by the Insurance Information Institute reports losses due to natural catastrophes through 2016.

I found the data charts to be especially informative. For example, the "Loss Events in the U.S. 1980-2016" indicates while "Metrological Events" (actually storm damage) shows a fluctuating gradual increase over the 36 years examined, however the losses due to Climatological Events (extreme temperatures, drought, wild fire) seems to have doubled during the same time. Losses due to flood in 2016 also seems to be twice that of 30 years ago.
Last point I would make is while this data is ONLY for U.S. losses and the worst impacts of Climate Change have occurred in the developing world; one would suspect that the frequency and extent of damage would be fairly consistent worldwide.
