Prop Traders... looking for advice on the concept

One of the girfriends now wants to be a trader and someone is trying to get her to buy into some prop trader game... upfront fee 6k, 200 a month, 5k deposit on trades, 80/20 profit split.

I read the investopedia etc but it still comes up as scamy to me. Basically seems like the house covers itself well with fees etc and you work for them and only a very select few end up making the big bucks

My opinion is just DIY.

Anyone have a better or inside perspective on prop trading (Maverick in this case?)

Thanks,
Notgnu
