OT: Chicago murders

OT: Chicago murdersSince our friends on the ultra-right brought up the subject and provoked a memory from 2016 - the last time I heard their accusations about violence in Chicago except then, I believe, it was all the fault of a Democratic Illinois State Attorney General. So I did some research and what I found was that the murder rate at times been lower under former Democratic administrations and higher under some former Republican administrations, but overall it varied from year to year, and there didn't seem to be any relationship to the partisan identity of the office holder. But of course anyone can look up the murder/gun death stats and compare that to any one party being in power for themselves, but perhaps not our Trumpies who have their own "alternative facts". Maybe, just maybe, there might be more fundamental reasons for the crime in our cities besides partisanship, but I suspect all that thinking probably makes Trumpies' heads hurt.
