NPI could benefit soon (just need US exposure)Following a 2 year student campaign, Syracuse University announced in April 2015 that it is pulling its 1.8 billion dollar endowment fund out of companies involved in fossil fuel extraction and will look to reinvest in investments with clean energy technologies such as solar, biofuels and advanced recycling. There is a growing petition being raised to pressure the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to divest from its fossil fuel holdings. That’s a very interesting one, I see them doing that one day. Approximately 200 universities and other institutions globally with holdings near $50 billion have agreed to dump fossil fuels. It is a debate and a movement on university campuses everywhere. That is an entire generation with voting power. With the power to create political isolation for companies in the business of fossil fuels. And, when a government loses enough votes by supporting their old friends in the fossil fuel game, they will look for new friends. Before that happens, you will see many fossil fuel companies growing their own portfolio of renewable holdings. Hey, they’re already looking.
