RSI hit 84 at $5.85. I swore months ago next time it got to 83 I would sell and get back in later. But with FOMO, I only sold 25% of holdings there. Just had to. I firmly believe oil is in a bull run for some time, but just a little ahead of itself. Time will tell if I made the right move. Just no way I could sell out, lol.

Your technical analysis provide any thoughts on this being at or near a short term top?

A long time ago , I was approached by a technician who wanted to sell me a system that never missed. He trotted out a long list of commodities and proceeded to show me how on each and every one his system was profitable. After scratching my head for a while, I decided to ask What about the commodities that are not on your list? Oh he said only one third of all the commodities were profiable ...more

Oldnagger, i hear ya. Just last 2 times NVA hit 83 RSI both had large pullbacks. $4.10 to $2.97, and before that $2.67 to $2.05. Those long drawn out pullbacks were painful. Hey, if we get a big correction I will buy back that 25% and get more shares. If it continues up, great as i still have a lot of shares. I will then look to allocate these new funds to another sector that has has a pullback.

Similarly, holding losing positions that fall can take years to come back, so the best solution for me has been to sell losers early and try to let winners run, while taking profits on way up.  All that said, there will ...more

I am not sure whether it will be different or not, but we came a long way to get to the bottom last summer , so I believe we will go a long way before we get to the top. Memories are still fresh and very few pay packages are tied into the number of barrels some one can push out without regard to profitability. In my mind fundamentals are king . My turn to play!!

And I certainly hope you are right Oldnagger as I too have skin in the game  ... However, I remember back to the claim of the day when oil last peaked and pundits everywhere were shouting we had reached peak oil and there was no way oil would ever fall back again.  Along came fracking and we had an oil bear market for 6 years that brought long holders to tears. The market loves to mess ...more
