I always thought that one day, our large positions in well-run, Canadian small/mid cap, free cash flowing beasts would be "strategic." Today, we tried to find blocks in 2 such names...not a single offering of size from anyone in the world. The party is just getting started.

I'm rolling my internal target prices to using 2023 estimates and even for me, watching the multiple compression from just 1 year of free cashflow at $80-$100 is simply mind-blowing. About a 0.5x EV/CF compression which when you're going from 2.0x to 1.5x, is pretty significant.

The more these guys pump, the more nervous I get. Why would anyone that's trying to position themselves in an asset want to broadcast it to the world so that they need to pay a premium price for it ?.........doesn't make sense to me . My guess is he's well positioned already and looking to drive prices up to profit knowing the potential for a recession is looming. Seems more logical to ...more

The way he wrote his post he couldn't find a hedge fund trader to sell him all the stolen stop orders. With the BOC rate increase inflation will start to ease. On tv today all day they have been talking about Russia taking out Kiev. Why would you not be a buyer today?

LOL, i see now. But to be honest, he is a big buyer and would bet he tells his traders to get him shares any way they can, and that they will use stop loss limit order tactics to accumulate.

I don't follow where i fit into that thread, but he is bang on. Travel is the final piece to the puzzle of demand exploding this summer as covid numbers drop like flies. Major supply constraints. Setting up for oil to average over $100 in Q2, after we average over $90 here in Q1. The FCF Nuvista is generating is astounding. Paid down $68m in Q4 and WTI was wayyy lower for that 3 quarterly ...more
