More than 100 people attended the event and asked questions on everything from the possibility of future mining-trade classes at GCC to the different types of machinery the mine might use. Representatives from Orvana urged area residents to also attend future public hearings held by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. A hearing has already been scheduled for Nov. 9, but a location and time have not been set. "There is going to be a lot of opposition," Jim Jacques, director of engineering and mining for Orvana, said. "Email, write letters, do everything that you can to show support.
