The Environmental Coordinator of Asturias has criticized that the Asturian government "is dazzled by gold mining" and has regretted that the Ministry of Industry is going to authorize a new gold mining project, with a new mining research project that affects the councils of Boal, Franco, Castropol and Illano in favor of Orovalle Mineral SL before Kinbauri Spain.

They also say that it is doing it once again, without addressing the allegations presented by the Ecologist Coordinator and the residents of the area to "this new mega mining project."

"Surprisingly, the affected city councils did not allege despite the impact that these exploitations have on the environment," indicates the group that recalls that "when this mining project began in 2014, an attempt was made to deceive the neighbors with the excuse of recovering the tungsten mines in Boal, but in the end it shows what we had denounced, that what they are looking for is gold and the other associated metals, not something else ".

They also affect the fact that Asturian gold mining requires large movements of ore to achieve grams per ton in the best of cases, which is why significant earth movements and numerous residues are generated, as highly polluting substances are used to concentrate the metals - -the Belmonte uses cyanides.

"These processes, as we know, are very polluting for the water and soil, creating mortgages for tens of years of the waste that cyanide sludge and arsenic suppose for the soil and water," they add.

Ecologists remember that right now there are 26 projects in force in search of gold that affect an area of more than 750 million square meters affecting Asturian councils (Lena, Morcin, Quiros, Riosa, Proaza, Tineo, Allande, Cangas Narcea, ibias, Belmonte, Valds, Castropol, Boal, Illano, Franco, Tapia).
