But I don't see what personal benefit there would be for Weston. He also reported it not long after it occured. I think it's plausible he didn't understand how bad it was to do this and he must gave gotten a lot of pressure from Dueck. I'm not sure if losing out on president / CEO position is a big benefit for him.
As you said, better controls and safeguards will be a benefit for the future. And assuming they get the full amount back this may end up having some positive effects. I am still concerned that Dueck holds a significant portion of Photon R&D, Also I assume DCD Management Ltd. is his own company. So management will need to give some comfort that there's nothing shady going on with these companies either.
