I agree there... and not just commodity based companies.

I don't recall any cases where a stock rallies due to a dividend cut. 

Most inventors prefer a dividend to be maintained and have the financial performance improve so the dividend is sustainable at least or might increase at some point.

Some of the most successful investors (Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch) say to look for a history of dividends being paid and/or increased... NOT dividend cuts.

While others here say they want to see a dividend cut so it's "sustainable", I prefer to see improvements in financial/production/revenue/cash flow that make the dividend sustainable or possibly leave room for an increase
