I am retired and own

I am retired and own PLZ in two accounts . In first down $ 777 on 1460  shares while collected $ 408 a year for 3 years . $1224> 777  positive $ 447 so slightly ahead. In the other account down $ 2233 on 2100 shares while collected  $ 587 a year  $ 2233 < 1761 negative $ 472. If I subtract  taxes in one account the other is TFSA and inflation depreciation than I made f all unless it recovers. So there is no point to own only one or few stocks you have to own a lot and be well diversified. You have to own some eagles with potential growth while collecting dividends to balance and protect your capital. That's why I own over 20 stocks and cashing my dividends regularly not willing to subsidize losses in my portfolio. That's the biggest challenge. So far I grow my portfolio while collecting dividends and as I wait for my dividends I hydrate. Love beer since I have Czech background.
 Cheers.
